Artists

Yasuka Sudo
The artist Yasuka Sudo passed away at the age of 30 after a prolonged battle with illness. Born in 1978 in Fukushima, Sudo faced challenges such as the death of a parent during adolescence and a personal struggle with a debilitating illness. Sudo created portraits, self-portraits, emotional landscapes, and natural scenery, expressing joy and anguish, hope and despair, life and death through over 1,000 artworks. Sudo continued creative pursuits even after receiving a cancer diagnosis in 2007. To preserve Sudo's legacy, the artist's father established the Yasuka Art Museum in 2012. The exhibition, a collaboration with the museum, offers a comprehensive retrospective of Suda's life and previously unknown aspects of Suda's art.
