Tsutsugaki Aizome Wedding Futon

Yao City History and Folklore Museum
Finished
Wedding futon, or "celebration bedding," were traditional items brides brought to their new homes, popular from the late Edo period to the 1950s. These beddings used tube-resist dyeing, where paste was applied to fabric to create vibrant patterns. This exhibition features various wedding beddings, from subtle to formal designs, reflecting family wishes for the bride’s happiness and the festive spirit of traditional weddings.
