Artists

Tintoretto, Frans Hals, Anthony van Dyck, Claude Monet, Pierre-Auguste Renoir, Paul Cézanne, Vincent van Gogh, Paul Gauguin, Marc Chagall et al.
Opened in 1983, the Tokyo Fuji Art Museum in Hachioji, Tokyo has a collection of approximately 30,000 pieces from a wide range of time periods, genres, and regions, including paintings, photographs, woodblock prints, sculptures, ceramics, lacquer ware, armor, swords and medallions created in Japan, Asia, and the West. In particular, the museum is renowned worldwide for its collection of western paintings from the 16th century Italian Renaissance to the 20th century, which provides a nearly comprehensive overview of the history of western painting during that period.

This exhibition displays 83 carefully chosen gems from the museum's substantial collection. Work from old masters such as Tintoretto, Frans Hals, and Anthony van Dyck, who decorated the history of western painting, as well as pieces by modern artists such as Monet, Renoir, Cézanne, Gogh, Gauguin, and Chagall, all serve to introduce us to 400 years of western painting, from the latter part of the 16th century to the 20th century.
