Toshitaka Nabata
The picture book "Kobito Zukan," illustrated by Toshitaka Nabata (1977-), a researcher of kobito (tiny beings), has captivated a wide range of audiences from children to adults since its publication in 2006 with its unique art style and worldview. The story follows the protagonist "Boku," who borrows a "Kobito Zukan" from his grandfather and discovers mysterious creatures called "kobito" in forests, grassy fields, and inside homes—creatures neither insects nor animals. Through these encounters, Boku learns that the strange occurrences and subtle feelings experienced in daily life are often the doings of kobito.

In this exhibition, original drawings, sketches from the "Kobito Zukan" series, and kobito figures sculpted by the artist himself will be showcased, tracing Toshitaka Nabata's artistic journey.
