Origins of Modern Japan: The Young Eiichi Shibusawa's Journey Through Europe

Gas Museum
Finished
Eiichi Shibusawa, known as the "father of Japanese capitalism," gained insights from accompanying Akitake Tokugawa to the 1867 Paris Expo, where Shibusawa learned about advanced technologies and economic systems. After returning to Japan during the Meiji era, Shibusawa implemented the "gappon-shugi" to create various systems and organizations, laying the foundation for modern Japan. The exhibition highlights Shibusawa's European travels and their impact, including Shibusawa's implementation of the gas business for public welfare. Special cooking classes featuring European cuisine from the era will also be held.
