Artists

Ryoji Arai
Ryoji Arai (born 1956 in Yamagata) is a globally acclaimed artist who, among other achievements, became the first Japanese recipient of the Astrid Lindgren Memorial Award in 2005. His work spans a wide range of genres, including picture books, painting, music, and performing arts.

Much like the excitement of embarking on a journey, where even the uncertainties and fears become part of the adventure, Arai has expanded his creative horizons with this spirit. In this exhibition, Arai himself has selected and restructured works that narrate both his "past" and "future." Experience the world of Ryoji Arai, reborn from here, through his paintings, original picture book illustrations, illustrations, as well as new installations and cherished personal items.
