A photo exhibition is being held to commemorate the publication of street photographer Joji Shimamoto's photo book "The Scene - Moment of Truth" (Published by Hidden Champion).
Shimamoto has spent 20 years capturing various dramas encountered by chance during his travels around the world. Events in American cities such as San Francisco, where Shimamoto started his career, as well as Los Angeles, San Diego, and New York, and encounters in European cities like Prague, Paris, Helsinki, and Lisbon. He also visited Fortaleza in Brazil and returned to Tokyo, encountering thousands of dramas. The many moments he encountered were so dramatic that one could say they inevitably happened in front of his eyes to be captured in a photograph. The fleeting cityscapes captured by Joji Shimamoto's viewfinder evoke the imagination of the preceding and following stories like scenes from a movie, reaching viewers as eternal moments. His photo book can be considered both a collection of memories from Shimamoto's journeys and the entrance to new stories that can be endlessly imagined.
To commemorate the publication of this comprehensive photo book, a photo exhibition will be held. On the opening day, December 22nd (Friday) from 7 pm, there will be an opening reception and a signing event, and on December 27th (Wednesday) from 7 pm, a Full Moon Night Event featuring a sitar performance by Jarvis Earnshaw will also take place.
