Imperial Hotel Brick Factory— The Tokoname Artisans Who Accepted the Challenge of Frank Lloyd Wright

INAX Museums
Finished
The old main building of the Imperial Hotel, a renowned masterpiece by American architect Frank Lloyd Wright, utilized over 4 million Oya stone and pottery pieces. Wright had specific design requests, and artisans from Tokoname, Aichi, met the challenge with their expertise. A dedicated factory, the Imperial Hotel Brick Factory, was established in Tokoname for this project. As the building marks its 100th anniversary, this year highlights Tokoname artisans and their skills in bringing Wright's vision to life.
