The 1960s and 1970s were a time of rapid changes in the surrounding environment due to advancing urbanization, as well as drastic changes in social systems and frameworks. It was also around this time that photographic, video, and audio recording equipment became available to individual users.

The exhibition will feature "Frames and Waves," a series of works that are based on the concept of "frame and wave" and “sound." This exhibition introduces artists from the museum's collection who, mainly in the 1960s and 1970s, incorporated words, sounds, everyday objects, and familiar landscapes into their works, and who combined seeing, hearing, experiencing, and remembering into their creations, with the keyword "frame and wave. In particular, works by Kenji Inumaki, Hitoshi Nomura, Nobuya Hitsuda, Akiko Horio, and Yutaka Matsuzawa from the 1970s onward will also be included in the exhibition to explore their awareness of issues that have been relevant from about 50 years ago to the present day.
