Embracing New Beginnings II - Experiments in Expression

Shionoe Museum of Art
Finished

Artists

Toshikazu Kumano et al.
The Shionoe Art Museum, which opened in April 1994 following the donation of around 350 paintings by Western-style painter Toshiichi Kumano (1908–2005) from Shionoe, Takamatsu, is celebrating its 30th anniversary this year (2024). Kumano, who was first captivated by the beauty of European landscapes, especially the colors brought by the light of southern France, visited Europe repeatedly starting in 1963, staying there and continuing his artistic work.

This exhibition will feature around 30 works, focusing on Kumano's post-European works and including pieces from overseas artists that have been entrusted to the museum since its opening.
