Food is an essential part of people's lives and important to the Moomin Valley friends. This exhibition focuses on food in the Moomin stories and explores the meaning of "convivial" through quotations, illustrations, and other special exhibits. It introduces the world of the Moomin Valley through a selection of original paintings and reproductions from the Moomin Museum collection, symbolic quotes from Moomin stories, and various rare exhibits.

Opened on July 29, 1997. Koumi-machi Kogen Museum of Art was designed by Tadao Ando and is located n Matsubara Heights, at the base of the magnificent Mt. Yatsugatake. The museum's collection includes works from the late Kesao Kuribayashi, a painter and former member of the “Kokugakai” society as well as a Koumi-machi local, and the late Tatsuzo Shimaoka, a ceramic artist who was designated a Living National Treasure. Special exhibitions feature local artists, contemporary art, architecture, and design.
