Artists

Chuichi Konno
Chuichi Konno (1915–2006) was a pioneering mountain landscape painter who continuously depicted Japan's renowned peaks throughout a distinguished career. Konno's work emerged during a transformative period in Japanese art, characterized by shifts toward larger formats, thicker paint, and Western techniques. Masterfully, Konno preserved traditional Japanese elements while incorporating dark tones and steering clear of shading and perspective. In later years, Konno concentrated on creating mental landscapes inspired by real scenes, capturing the inner spirit. The year 2024 marks the 110th anniversary of Konno's birth, and this milestone will be celebrated with an exhibition showcasing key works and honoring an enduring artistic legacy.
