Chihiro Iwasaki
Chihiro Iwasaki was born on December 15, 1918, in Takefu (now Echizen City), where snow piled up.

Iwasaki, with parents from Shinshu, excelled in skiing since her school days and often visited snowy mountains in winter. She also had a mountain villa in Kurohime, the northern tip of Shinshu, which she called "Sekkatei" in winter. She would create her art while gazing at the snowy scenery from the window.

Iwasaki's works, including picture books, calendars, and magazine covers, often feature snow. Whether it's the sparkling crystals, the damp snowflakes, or the powder snow dancing across a snowy field, Iwasaki depicts snow in various captivating ways.

This exhibition focuses on Iwasaki's portrayal of snow, showcasing picture books such as "Tsuru no Ongaeshi," "Oni-ta no Boushi," and "Yuki no Hi no Tanjoubi."
