Artists

Yoshimichi Fujimoto
Fujimoto Yoshimichi(1919-1992)was appointed as a holder of Important Intangible Cultural Property in the field of porcelain with overglaze enamels. He explored ways of expression using porcelain with overglaze enamels, which established an individual style distinct from Japan’s local production area of ceramic ware. Through experimenting with techniques using pigments and glazes, he created realistically depicted artworks that brought out depth.

The artworks of Fujimoto Yoshimichi, in both the quality and the quantity of works, hold an important place in the Kikuchi Collection. Kikuchi Tomo, the founder of Kikuchi Kanjitsu Memorial Tomo Museum, opened a contemporary ceramic gallery in 1974 named Kandori, and for the first commemorative solo exhibition, had invited Fujimoto to present his works. Since then, Kikuchi Tomo collected over 130 of his works. At Tomo Museum, this Fujimoto exhibition will be the fifth time, and we hope to present the trajectory of his works.
