An Introduction to Buddhist Art

Idemitsu Museum of Arts, Moji
Finished
Buddhism, which was born in India about 2,500 years ago, spread to various parts of the world. The teachings of Buddhism have given birth to a wide variety of forms, depending on the region, time period, and sect that accepted them. Buddhist art continues to fascinate people today as it forms the basis of beauty in Asia.

This exhibition introduces the world of beauty created in accordance with the beliefs of esoteric Buddhism, which represents the solemn world, Pure Land Buddhism, which seeks peace after death, and Zen Buddhism, which seeks enlightenment through ascetic practice.
