Equine Museum of Japan
Finished

Artists

Hanjiro Sakamoto
Hanjiro Sakamoto (1882-1969) was born in Kurume city in Fukuoka prefecture, and after he returned from Europe, he opened an atelier in Fukuoka's Yameshi city, where he continued creating until he died at the age of 87. The themes in his works vary from cows, horses, still lives, to the depiction of the moon, but he established his own style and proceeded deeper into that world as he matured.
In this exhibition, which commemorates the 140th anniversary of Sakamoto's birth, we will exhibit 14 of his works, including oil paintings, watercolor paintings, and woodblock prints (some exhibits may change during the exhibition period).
