Chiharu Shiota
In the city of Beppu in Oita Prefecture, an exhibition of work by internationally acclaimed Berlin-based artist Chiharu Shiota will be held. In 2015, she was selected to represent Japan at the Japan Pavilion of the Venice Biennale, an international art festival in Italy. In 2019, Chiharu Shiota completed an expansive solo exhibition at Mori Art Museum in Tokyo and has become one of the most recognized artists today.
This exhibition will take two buildings in the Beppu Station area, and transform them into dynamic and finely detailed art installations. So that visitors can experience the exhibition on an even deeper level, a satellite venue will be opened to exhibit the related documents and for the publication of booklets (which are planned to go on sale midway through the exhibition).

The work of Chiharu Shiota, which deals with such primordial questions of humanity as life, death, existence, and memory, jolts the emotions of viewers with its astounding, experiential style.
