This exhibit treats kogei, which is renewed by its proximity to other categories, and contemporary art and Art Brut, which emerge when viewed from the perspective of materials and techniques, not as opposing axes but as sharing values and methods. “The relationship between materials and techniques” will be viewed as a creative act woven by objects and people that transcends the values of “good” and “bad,” and the three parties will be seen as a new relationship.

Normally, advanced craftsmanship is considered to be at the top of the hierarchy of craft values, but rather than treating it as the only legitimate value of craft, we will include “anti-technology” that is in conflict with it, and “non-technology” that is like child’s play “anti-technology” and “non-technology” such as children’s games are also included as possibilities of expression created by the relationship between people and objects. It is also a re-evaluation of the process of “making” in a broad sense, not limited to crafts.

The venues for the exhibition, Shokoji Temple (Takaoka City, Toyama Prefecture), Nayaji Temple (Komatsu City, Ishikawa Prefecture), and Otaki Shrine and Okata Shrine (Echizen City, Fukui Prefecture), are all historical buildings designated as cultural assets, and they perfectly embody the history and climate of the area. Site-specific works by a total of 20 artists will be exhibited there.
