Banana
While working as a company employee, Banana is also a collector, music label member, DJ, and VJ. This exhibition, ‘Composite Garden’, will be presenting a number of video works in the space at the same time. All of these videos are the opposite of the latest technology, and at first glance, they may be seen as nostalgic expressions.

Looking back at the history of video art and video installations, it is said that the first generation found the act of art as a common denominator in the counter-culture that criticized the political, social, and cultural situations of the 1970s and 1980s, and in the active anti-war movement, and incorporated it into the medium of video.

At the same time, MTV, which opened in 1981, rapidly popularized innovative visual expression. In this exhibition, electronic images emitted from numerous monitor screens create two axes of space and time, creating a complex montage. Guerrilla Television, which was active in the early days of video media, said, “Video is not television, it is a grassroots medium that is distinct from film.” The images created by Banana are a world that cannot be described in one word.
