Demythifying Japanese Women Artists

Nukaga Gallery
Finished

Artists

Yuki Katsura, Yayoi Kusama, Atsuko Tanaka, Yuko Nasaka
Aiming to strip away some of the mythology surrounding them, this exhibition presents the work of four leading Japanese women artists: Yayoi Kusama, who continues to rise in the overheating art market; Atsuko Tanaka and Yuko Nasaka, who reassess the fundamental value of the artist in their works; and Yuki Katsura, a unique and cutting-edge artist who has been working some 20 years longer than the others. Rediscover the diversity and richness of Japan’s avant-garde female artists in large-scale works by Katsura rarely on the market, early Kusama pieces, and works exhibited overseas or displayed publically for the first time by Tanaka and Nasaka.
