Miyako Kanamori
FOIL GALLERY is pleased to announce a solo exhibition by Miyako Kanamori entitled "nui-gurumi" from May 29th - June 20th, 2009.

Since graduating from university, Miyako Kanamori began making nui-gurumi (stuffed dolls) in 1998, and has presented these works in various publications and exhibitions.
The animals she makes from worn-out pairs of socks or knitwear have fascinated fans both in Japan and abroad. Materials taken from popular fashion brands like mina perhonen or Kate Spade have added an eloquent touch to these dolls' faces. No two dolls look the same - a gentle reminder that we, in the real world, cannot all be the same, but rather each have our own individual character.

"nui-gurumi" workshop also scheduled. See website for details (Japanese only).
