Summer Night Museum 2024: Extended Hours and Special Prices

Five Tokyo museums will extend opening hours on Fridays from July 18 to August 30.

Once again, this summer, Tokyo's museums will extend their opening hours and offer special prices on Fridays for Summer Night Museum 2024. Five museums will participate: Tokyo Metropolitan Art Museum, Tokyo Metropolitan Teien Art Museum, Tokyo Photographic Art Museum, Museum of Contemporary Art Tokyo, and Tokyo Shibuya Koen-dori Gallery. From July 18 to August 30, the museums will be open late every Friday night, and offer reduced admission fees and other benefits.

Tokyo Metropolitan Art Museum

The Whispering Land: Artists in Correspondence with Nature exhibition at the Tokyo Metropolitan Art Museum will be open from 17:00 to 20:00 on July 26, August 2, 9, 16, 23, and 30. Free entry for students and a ¥200 discount will be available for adults and seniors over 65. The exhibition of Giorgio de Chirico, Metaphysical Journey, will be open late on July 19, 26, August 2, 9, 16, and 23. (No discount on admission fee)

Tokyo Metropolitan Teien Art Museum

Takehisa Yumeji: Taisho Romanticism and the New World exhibition at the Tokyo Metropolitan Teien Art Museum will be open from 17:00 to 21:00 on July 19, 26, August 2, 9, 16, and 23. Free entry for students and group rates will apply for adults and seniors over 65. The garden will be open to the public as well.

Tokyo Photographic Art Museum

Tokyo Photographic Art Museum will be open on Thursdays and Fridays from 17:00 to 21:00. Mitsuhiko Imamori's exhibition Satoyama and TOP Collection: The Resonance of Seeing will be open on July 18-19, 25-26, August 1-2, 8-9, 15-16, 22-23, and 29-30. Free entry for students and group rates will apply for adults and seniors over 65.

Wonder Mt. Fuji exhibition will be open late on July 18-19. Iwai Toshio × Tokyo Photographic Art Museum Presents: A Light and Movement House of 100 Stories― Connecting Visual Devices in the 19th Century and Media Art will be open on August 1-2, 8-9, 15-16, 22-23, and 29-30. Free entry for students and group rates will apply for adults and seniors over 65.

Museum of Contemporary Art Tokyo

Three exhibitions at the Museum of Contemporary Art Tokyo, A Personal View of Japanese Contemporary Art: Takahashi Ryutaro Collection, Yoshiaki Kaihatsu's Art is Live - Welcome to One Person Democracy, and MOT Collection will be open from 17:00-21:00 on August 9, 16, 23 and 30. Free entry for students and group rates will apply for adults and seniors over 65.

Imagining the Unseen Everyday exhibition at the Tokyo Shibuya Koen-dori Gallery will be open from 17:00 to 21:00 on July 19, 26, and August 2, 9, 16, 23, and 30. Visitors coming after 17:00 will also receive a special sticker.

The Edo-Tokyo Open Air Architectural Museum in Koganei Park will host a special evening event on August 3-4 from 16:00 to 20:30. In addition, visitors can also participate in mystery-solving activities in the museums.
