Finished

Artists

Tsunenobu Namiki
Regarding the exhibition theme, "Snow, Moon, and Flowers", which refers to the beauty of the four seasons, the artist Namiki says, "I want to challenge the theme so that my work speaks to people's hearts, and also to summarize my entire body of work, which always dealt with landscapes."
A total of 50 lacquer works are showcased in this exhibition, including large scale paintings, Robasaki-byobu (screen painting), and miniature works, in which traditional Japanese beauty can be found. "Lacquer is an extremely simple media, but at the same time it is undoubtedly gorgeous," says Namiki. Employing delicate techniques such as Togidashi-makie (burnished lacquer), Raden (seashell inlay), and Rankaku (eggshell inlay), he creates detailed, exquisite works that depict the spectacles of seasons.
