Joshibi Artist in Residence(Sagamihara)
Joshibi University of Art and Design has launched the JOSHIBI Artist in Residence (JOSHIBI AIR) pilot program in 2022. Previously we were based in a studio neat the Higashi-koenji Station around the Suginami campus, we moved to a new location in the Sagamihara campus in 2024.
The University currently has as one of its educational goals the “promotion of education to acquire internationality for global activities,” and believes that it is important to provide students with opportunities for experience and learning from their school years so that they can become artists, curators, art managers, and producers in the future in new fields of creative activities and expression.
JOSHIBI AIR invites internationally and domestically active artists to stay and work at Joshibi University to support their new creations, and creates exchange opportunities with students and faculty through class participation, artist talks and workshops.
The program aims to stimulate education and research through the learning and experiences of individual artists.
