Art Island Center is an art and research center, a gallery, and a bookshop. The Center was established in 2019 on Naoshima, an island in western Japan, which is known as “the art island” because of its art museums and its central position in the Setouchi Triennale art festival. Art Island Center's projects, programs, and exhibitions explore the identity and resilience of the islands of the Setouchi region, while using Naoshima's status as an international destination to facilitate conversations about globally significant topics. Our shop carries art books, children's books, stationery and art supplies, select gifts, and other merchandise. We stock both domestic products and imported goods from Europe and the USA. Our main gallery showcases work by artists and researchers from around the world. Our "Engawa Gallery" exhibits work by local/regional artists and craftspeople.
