Nijo-jo Castle

Nijo Castle was first commissioned by the Shogun Ieyasu Tokugawa and completed by his grandson Iemitsu who paid particular care to its refined collection of sculptures and paintings through which one may now glimpse the aesthetics of the Momoyama Period(1624-1643).
