Zon Ito + Elena Tutatchikova Exhibition

MtK Contemporary Art
Finished

Artists

Zon Ito, Elena Tutatchikova
The exchange between the two artists began last autumn when Zon Ito was invited to participate in Elena Tutatchikova's workshop "Walking along the Takase River in Autumn." They conversed while walking along the Takase River, a former canal that branches from and reunites with the Kamogawa River. At times, they entered the river to explore the riverbed, shared discoveries, and even collaborated on drawings after their walks.

Their ongoing interaction continued to foster new forms of play. This exhibition represents another point of their exchange, showcasing jointly created videos and drawings as fragments of their adventures by water and in mountains, and as dialogues in the studio.

Displayed in the main venue are diverse works created through various techniques, where the experiences brought back by both artists have settled into the depths, emerging once again through dialogues with their inner lakes, taking tangible forms.

Ito will exhibit a series of embroidered works titled "Drawings on Sand" and studies named "Tone of Exploration."

Tutatchikova's new paintings, ceramics, and drawings reflect memories of places walked, and thoughts that have traveled to distant places and people. Water appears in various forms, sometimes separating, connecting, and imaginary islands.

Thus, the works created to build an ecosystem in the exhibition space, each carrying its own wavelength and environmental world.
