The Violet Brained", the fifth exhibition, has been held in Kyoto, Taiwan, Fukuoka, and Daikanyama, Tokyo. The exhibition will be held in Kyoto, Taiwan, Fukuoka, and Daikanyama, Tokyo, and will be the first exhibition in Ginza by Yuya Yoshimatsu.
As Pen Public, Yoshimatsu has been engaged in both his own expression and that of his clients through his ongoing oil painting production, as well as through his involvement in mural art, graffiti, art direction for various stores and brands, and graphic design for apparel and other products. In addition, as a member of the Fukuoka-based collective "CCS Records.", to which he belongs as Pen Public, he also works as a musician and art director for the collective, expanding the scope of his activities both domestically and internationally.
In the future, he will change his name to his real name and pursue self-expression in a more challenging manner. The works in this exhibition are experimental creations of his oil paintings, which he has been continuously producing since last year in 2022.
The colorful lines that he unconsciously draws are the result of the coincidence of the accumulation of time that he, as a human being, has spent in the creation of this one piece. The harmony of all the lines on the support and the fact that the object itself exists, far removed from language and identity, are also referenced.
The resulting works are supports that have no language or emotion, but only the contingent fact of "the number of lines," and his creative activity is a pursuit of "the identity of the space in which we live," which is generated by their placement in space.
