Yusuke Kamata, Yoshio Shirakawa
Air475 is an art project that explores and utilizes the resources (history, culture, climate) of Yonago City and its surrounding areas through site-specific works and projects by leading domestic and international artists and curators. The project aims not only to deepen the understanding of art among the residents but also to foster a sense of attachment to the region and civic pride while creating opportunities for interaction and contributing to community revitalization. Since its inception in 2013, ten artists and curators have conducted research, residencies, and exhibitions in Yonago. In 2023, contemporary artists Yusuke Kamata and Yoshio Shirakawa were invited for approximately one month to carry out research and residencies in central Yonago. This time, they will each hold solo exhibitions to present the results of their residencies.

- Yusuke Kamata: You Don't Remember Anymore
Exhibition Period: July 19 (Fri) – August 4 (Sun)
Yusuke Kamata's exhibition explores the phenomenon of not being able to remember what was built after a building is demolished, overlapping it with the collective amnesia regarding various events in modern Japan (colonialism, immigration policies, war). The exhibition will feature photographs, videos, and installations juxtaposing old Japanese houses in Yonago with images of Japanese houses built abroad (in Korea, Taiwan, the United States, and Brazil). It seeks to resist the notion of "not remembering" and to open pathways to multiple histories starting from Yonago.

- Yoshio Shirakawa: Izumo Myths Become Art
Exhibition Period: August 9 (Fri) – August 25 (Sun)
Yoshio Shirakawa's exhibition considers the history of individuals who have been active in Tottori and Yonago from the Taisho period to the present, from the perspective of Izumo beliefs. The exhibition will include twelve two-dimensional and written works that illustrate the nature of Izumo beliefs. These works convey the resurgence of Izumo beliefs from the depths of the history and climate of not only the Chugoku region but also the entire nation.
