Yu Shinoda
Yu Shinoda won the Shiogama Photo Festival Photography Award Grand Prize in 2013. As a complimentary prize, he published a photography book entitled "Medium" in 2015, and has been actively exhibiting his work mainly in Tokyo to date.

This exhibition consists of works published in two photo books: "Medium" (Shiogama Photo Festival, 2015), Shinoda's debut book, and "I Want to See You When You Are Alone" (Paper Company, 2021), which was edited several years after the photo was taken, based on the same interest as this book. The book is composed of works published in two books, "I Want to See You When You Are Alone" ( Paper Company, 2021), which was edited several years after the photographs were taken. The poetic serenity of this work captures phenomena found in the spaces of everyday life and the landscapes encountered in travel that evoke the mechanisms of photography, such as "reflections," "frames," and "layers.

In "Long Long, Ago" (photographer's gallery, August 21~September 3, 2023), Shinoda photographed the ruins of a military encampment on the Miura Peninsula.

In this exhibition, Shinoda will exhibit newly printed works, as if he were reencountering the traces of time that have arisen between himself and his works. This exhibition is both a "past work" and the latest work of the artist, who has been earnestly dealing with the existence of "photography," which encompasses diverse and multilayered time.
