Kinkan Gallery will be holding Yu Kawaguchi's "One Day, One Morning, One Time" from March 22 to April 13.
Kawaguchi has, to date, approached painting as a phenomenon, creating works that explore space itself as a potential component of painting. Through his works, viewers come to see themselves as part of the artwork within the exhibition space, with each individual viewing experience becoming an essential element in completing the piece. For him, the creation of the artwork is only complete when experienced by the viewer.
The exhibition “One Day, One Morning, One Time” presents paintings that could be described as palm-sized sculptures. Through the interplay of relationships between the works, the viewer, the space, and time, the exhibition attempts to make painting a “catalyst” for evoking more personal memories and sensations through their interaction.
