Yu Hara
Yu Hara has focused on everyday objects and familiar items, creating a series that shapes figures from these motifs. The artist has also deconstructed canvases and wooden frames used in painting, questioning the premise of the flat surface.
The exhibition will feature works such as abstract brushstrokes on the canvas that form faces with eyes, noses, and mouths, and pieces where the canvas is braided like hair with only the vertical threads remaining. Other works include canvases that are not attached to wooden frames but are instead constructed like interchangeable parts of clothing or hats, and pieces where the surfaces of chairs and carpets are transformed into paintings. Haru humorously reimagines everyday objects into the realm of painting.
