Artists

Yoshikazu Yasuhiko
This retrospective exhibition offers insight into the creative activities of Yoshikazu Yasuhiko, who is not only the character designer and animation director of "Mobile Suit Gundam" but also a prolific manga artist. Born as a third-generation settler in Enbetsu Town, Hokkaido, Sadamoto participated in student movements during his university days before moving to Tokyo to engage in anime production and eventually transitioning into a manga artist. While exhibitions focused on specific genres, such as anime and manga, by Yasuhiko have been held before, this exhibition marks the first attempt to explore his works across diverse fields from his youth to the present, delving into the common themes therein.

Furthermore, Yasuhiko's manga works, which delve into Japanese ancient and modern history, are captivating fictional dramas enriched with meticulous historical research and vibrant imagination. This exhibition provides an opportunity to appreciate both the inherent allure of history itself and the imaginative prowess of Yasuhiko as an artist. It's worth noting that 2024 marks the 45th anniversary of the broadcast of "Mobile Suit Gundam" and serves as a memorial year as Yoshikazu Yasuhiko celebrates his 77th birthday.
