The Yamane Museum of Art is hosting the public exhibition "Seed 2024," aiming to discover and foster talented painters contributing to the new creation of Japanese painting. Due to the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic, it has been postponed for two years and is now being held for the third time in 2024.

After a rigorous selection process from a total of 153 submitted artworks, the following awards have been determined: Grand Prize - Akiko Kitagawa with "Whispering - Connecting Lives," Excellence Award - Shuhei Shigemasa with "Soshin Wax Ume," Special Award (Seiko Prize) - Miki Hayakawa with "Page," Special Award (Oriko Prize) - Akane Maeda with "Sakura on the Mountain." In addition, six works have been selected for the Encouragement Award: Mirei Omura with "Sanshou," Katsuki Kawamura with "Yoi Sakura," Rina Kotani with "Beyond Appearance," Asuka Kobari with "Wind of Coral," Utena Nakamura with "Shu," Mayumi Hachiya with "Minori no Koro."

This exhibition will showcase all 45 selected works, including the award-winning pieces. The hope is that visitors can appreciate the diverse possibilities of Japanese painting presented by these energetic and charming works by emerging and promising artists. Additionally, during the exhibition period, selected masterpieces from the museum collection will be displayed, including "Nude Figure" by Kagaku Murakami [Important Cultural Property], "Two Insects" by Goshu Hayami, and "Hana Kyoku" by Ryushi Kawabata.
