The Kamo River in Kyoto has the impression of being “flat without depth” due to the paralel rows of Kyoto townhouses along the river. To capture this impression, perspective is not necessary, but rather a methodology caled “Paralel Viewpoints” can be used. Paralel Viewpoints” is a method of capturing a flat world without perspective, and is an original Yamagami drawing method that started by walking along the river and searching for 100 viewpoints. The “Impression of KAMOGAWA” a work based on“Paralel Viewpoints,” was produced as a pilot version in 2019, and restarted this year as the “Impression of KAMOGAWA” project. The work wil be a large work, measuring over 1.8m in height and 16m in width, and wil take an enormous amount of time and cost to complete. In addition to works in progress, drawings, photographs, and other studies and multiples created during the production process wil also be exhibited. This exhibition is the kick-off of the series. At the same time, we wil be seeking supporters who understand and support the “Impression of KAMOGAWA” project as it gets underway. For more details, please check the website and SNS of Yukihiro Yamagami.
