Wonderland: The Sacred Place of Nanga

Nanga, or Southern painting, is a Japanese art form that emerged in the Edo period, influenced by Chinese painting and focusing on landscapes and flowers. It gained popularity in the mid-Edo period and evolved in the Meiji era. This exhibition, marking the 20th anniversary of the site's World Heritage registration, will be held at three venues in Wakayama Prefecture. It showcases masterpieces by artists connected to Nanga, exploring its development in Wakayama and featuring local painters and landscape works.
