Utagokoro: Classic Literature and Waka Poetry

Utagokoro encompasses comprehending Waka poetry as well as recognizing and savoring its aesthetic qualities. Waka, a poetic form with a 5-7-5-7-7 syllable structure, conveys complex emotions in Heian literature. This exhibition showcases The Tale of Genji folding screens and hand scrolls with Shikibu Murasaki's poetry, along with books and Waka materials in the handwriting of a feudal lord.
