Tsuneo Iwasaki
At Quadrivium Ostium in Oku-Kamakura, a new initiative to shed light on the private works of a Sunday begins in November as the "Art as a Space for a Personal Soul" series. The first exhibition in the series will feature the work of Tsuneo Iwasaki.

While continuing to work a regular job, Tsuneo Iwasaki (1939–2012) painted oil paintings depicting the landscapes of his hometown, Higashi-Matsuyama in Saitama, including meadows, riverbanks, and local old houses. A constant feature in many landscape paintings is the unwavering gaze focused on the boundary point between the sky and the earth. For example, the landscape paintings of his hometown, Higashi-Matsuyama, do not depict vast meadows but guide the viewer's gaze naturally toward mountains and large trees painted near the center of the canvas. The delicate and tranquil color tones are also distinctive. Dried grass, delicately and quietly painted, is adorned with dry light, inviting viewers to the distant horizon.

Since Iwasaki refused to hold solo exhibitions during his lifetime, only close relatives had seen his works. However, thanks to the generosity of the bereaved family, this exhibition has become a reality.

The exhibition will showcase approximately 60 works in a four-part structure: I Meadow Landscapes, II Landscapes with Old Houses, III Travel Landscapes, and IV Still Life Paintings.
