Traveling Art Museum: Churyo Sato Exhibition - From the Collection of the Miyagi Museum of Art

Ishinomaki City Museum
Until Sep 29

Artists

Churyo Sato, Eikichi Takahashi
The Ishinomaki City Museum will exhibit a total of 28 bronze sculptures from the collection of the Miyagi Museum of Art, including Churyo Sato’s (1912–2011) representative works "The People of Gunma" and "Hat・Summer" (with one piece on loan from the Ishinomaki City Museum). Additionally, 35 picture books and kamishibai (paper theater) illustrations by Sato, including those from "The Giant Turnip," will be displayed. A kids' space will be set up where families can sit and read picture books together, creating an environment for parents and children to enjoy the work. There will also be a photo spot themed around "The Giant Turnip." Furthermore, two sculptures by Eikichi Takahashi, a sculptor from Ishinomaki who died during the Pacific War, will be on loan from the Miyagi Museum of Art and displayed.
