The Shiseido Art House was established in 1978. Since then, the Shiseido Art House was renovated in 2002 to enhance its function as an art museum, collecting and preserving outstanding modern and contemporary artwork, while also serving as a cultural facility that opens its doors to the public through art exhibitions.

The core of the collection consists of paintings, sculptures, and crafts from the Tsubakikai Art Exhibition and the Contemporary Industrial Arts Exhibition, which were held at the Shiseido Gallery in Ginza, Tokyo, as part of Shiseido's cultural and artistic support activities.

The architecture of the museum was designed by Shinsuke Takamiya and Yoshio Taniguchi and was awarded the "Architectural Institute of Japan Award (Work)" in 1979 (Showa 54), and the building itself has value as art.
