Traditional Noh Theater Passed Down in Daimyo Families

Hayashibara Museum of Art
Finished
The museum's Ikeda family Noh theater collection holds significant cultural value as evidence of the reality and scale of Noh theater in the daimyo (feudal lord) households during the Edo period. Particularly noteworthy are historical records demonstrating the movements of the feudal lords and their social interactions through Noh theater.

In this exhibition, visitors will have the opportunity to appreciate masterpieces of Noh theater passed down in the Ikegawa family, alongside historical documents from the Ikeda Family Archives at the Okayama University Library and our museum's collection, providing insight into the essence of the Ikeda family's Noh theater collection.
