Toshio Suzuki and Ghibli

Fukuoka City Museum
Finished

Artists

Toshio Suzuki
Toshio Suzuki, producer at Studio Ghibli, has worked with Isao Takahata and Hayao Miyazaki to create many of the world's most famous animated films. This exhibition focused on the many films and books that Toshio Suzuki, who grew up in postwar Nagoya and has continued to travel through the Showa, Heisei, and 2025 eras, encountered and the historical backgrounds he could see through them.

Through the manga and books he has read since his childhood, the history books, non-fiction books, and critique books he continues to read with great curiosity after entering society, what kind of influences did he receive from these works and authors, and how did he connect them to his own way of thinking? How did he deal with the creators and establish Studio Ghibli films as an editor and producer?

In particular, the space containing numerous film works that Toshio Suzuki "experienced" during his childhood and turbulent times will be on display for the first time at the Fukuoka exhibition.

In addition, there will be many other exhibits such as valuable documents and proposals, as well as plastic models.

The Ghibli exhibition will return to Fukuoka City Museum for the first time in 4 years, since the "Ghibli no Taikai" exhibition in 2019, which set a new record of 397,595 visitors, the largest number in the Fukuoka City Museum's history.
