The Navy and Youth at War - Tracing the Footsteps of Five Individuals

Shokei-kan
Finished
This exhibition examines the lives of five young men who volunteered for the Navy and became war casualties. The brave soldiers, who aspired to serve in the navy due to their admiration for the sea and the skies, underwent training after joining and were eventually sent to the battlefield. Through their testimonies, diaries, and documents, the exhibition introduces their experiences, thoughts, and the events leading up to the end of the war. Additionally, the exhibition will explain the various naval roles such as sailors, aviators, mechanics, and engineers, and how assignments were based on individual aptitude and preferences. It will also provide insights into the specific war injuries associated with each role, as well as the systems for sanitation and the care of wounded soldiers, including naval hospitals.
