The “History of Akashi Excavated" exhibition focuses on materials excavated from the city and is held as an opportunity for the public to learn about the lifestyles of our predecessors as revealed by the excavations.

This year's theme is "Akashi's old kilns, pottery, and tiles," and will focus on kilns that fired pottery from the Kofun period to the modern age. The exhibition will feature pottery excavated from the Akanegawa Kanegasaki Kiln site during the Kofun period, as well as pottery excavated from kilns that fired Akashi pottery from the Edo to Meiji periods, introducing aspects of the society and culture of the time through the pottery fired in Akashi.
