Japan is home to a multitude of gardens created in eras past, each commissioned by feudal lords or shoguns and meticulously crafted by skilled landscape architects and gardeners. Designated as National Places of Scenic Beauty, these exquisite gardens are carefully preserved, their beauty a legacy passed down through generations. Inspired by these renowned landscapes, contemporary Japanese artists journey throughout the country, capturing the essence of these gardens in their art to share their scenic beauty and rich cultural heritage with us all.

This exhibition features works from the Sato Sakura Museum collection, exploring the theme of gardens and showcasing the beauty of the landscapes visited by the artists.

Additionally, a unique Sato Sakura garden has been created using selected artworks from the collection. We invite you to explore these diverse gardens and immerse yourself in the beauty of Japanese culture and Nihonga artistic expression.
