Andrew Wyeth
Andrew Wyeth (1917–2009) is known as a national painter of the United States. Born in Pennsylvania, west of New York, he spent much of his life in his hometown and Maine, the northeasternmost part of the United States, depicting these landscapes and the people who lived there. Notably, "Christina's World" (1948) is highly regarded as a masterpiece representing 20th-century American art.

In 1939, Wyeth met Christina Olson and her brother Alvaro in Maine, where he had a vacation home. Captivated by the two siblings and their approximately 150-year-old house, Wyeth visited and interacted with them for 30 years. Many masterpieces, including "Christina's World," were painted with this "Olson House" as the setting.

This exhibition will trace the Olson House and its associated memories that Wyeth continuously observed through approximately 60 precious watercolors and drawings, including studies for "Christina's World," from the Marunuma Art Park collection in Asaka City, Saitama Prefecture.
