The Charm of Sancai, Three-color Glazed Ware - Treasures of the Silk Road

Idemitsu Museum of Arts, Moji
Finished
Three-color glazed ware or Tang sancai are characterized by gorgeous decorations and vibrant colors. They are known as one of the prominent examples of Chinese ceramics. During the Tang Dynasty (618-907), sancai were created as burial goods to furnish the tombs of royal aristocrats. Today, they are also highly valued as artworks that represent the East and West cultural exchange through the Silk Road.
