The Book of Nature: Natural History and Art from the Fifteenth to Nineteenth Century

Machida City Museum of Graphic Arts
Finished
The "The Book of Nature" exhibition focuses on the connection between Western natural history and art (fine arts/techniques) from the 15th to 19th centuries and introduces the shapes and forms (images) of nature that humans have represented.

Since ancient times, humans have recorded natural objects and the natural environment-animals, plants, microscopic organisms that cannot be seen with the naked eye, and the terrain and geology of the earth. It should be noted that printing technologies such as type and print have played a major role in the dissemination of the likenesses of nature depicted in words and pictures. Furthermore, nature has been a source of art inspiration. It should not be overlooked that the expressive techniques of art have been used to illustrate nature.
