Junzo Shono et al.
Junzo Shono (1921–2009) was an author with strong ties to Kanagawa, having lived in Ikuta, Kawasaki, for nearly half a century from 1961 until his death. After winning the Akutagawa Prize in 1955 for "A View by the Poolside," Shono gained attention as one of the "Third Generation of New Writers." He left behind numerous works, including novels and essays detailing the intricacies of daily life with family and acquaintances, as well as interview-based novels about ordinary people. Guided by his belief that all literature is a human document, his works express the deep-seated melancholy of life, evoking a sense of nostalgia and emotion in his readers.

This exhibition reflects on Shono's literary legacy and life, featuring materials from the "Junzo Shono Library" donated by Shono and his family, along with treasured personal items.

*Simultaneously on view: Permanent Exhibition "Into the Forest of Literature: Kanagawa and Its Writers, Part 1: From Natsume Soseki to Hakushu Kitahara."*
