Terue Yamauchi "Each Breath a Bubble"

Tsushima Museum
Until Sep 23

Artists

Terue Yamauchi
Artist Terue Yamauchi was deeply moved by an old photograph of a naked Ama (female diver who collects shells, seaweed, etc.) in the village of Magari on Tsushima Island around 2010. This encounter liberated Yamauchi from previous perceptions of Japanese and human images. Since then, the artist has focused on creative work in coastal areas influenced by the Kuroshio and Tsushima currents. The exhibition showcases Yamauchi's works, restored Ama boats, traditional diving tools, and photographs.
